Shouting and Dancing
By Kim Moore
Today Clare Shaw and I invited ourselves to Amanda Dalton’s house for a Writing Day. In all fairness, Amanda Dalton should be considered a silent partner in the Shaw and Moore substack - it was Amanda, after all, who came up with our rather excellent theme tune. Those of you who have been with us from the very beginning will remember this, but for anyone who has recently joined us, you can find the glories of that theme tune here
Anyway, the Writing Day did not go quite according to plan, as you will see from the video below. Amanda does sometimes regress into her previous life when she was a deputy headteacher for the school that I should have attended, if I hadn’t been lured into the wilds of another school down the road with the promise of free trumpet lessons. All I can say is thank god Clare and I were not in Amanda’s school as we may have given her a nervous breakdown - perhaps we would have sent her into the arms of playwriting and poetry sooner?
After the telling off from Amanda, which was effective for about ten minutes, Amanda and Clare decided to serenade themselves and the rest of Hebden Bridge with a little sing-song.
So this is my excuse for why I still, at 22.23pm have still not written my poem today for National Poetry Writing Month. I am sending this out to you all in the hope that you have got on better with whatever goals and endeavours you set for yourself today.
For those new subscribers, I can assure you that there will be some serious and literary posts coming very shortly, once I can get Amanda and Clare to stop shouting and dancing.

Oh joy - one more time again x
Your excuse is so much better than mine! 💜
