Yesterday I decided on a whim to start a substack, as a great procrastination device to stop me getting on with my third poetry collection.
Since moving to Hebden Bridge, I’ve been writing regularly with my friend and poet Clare Shaw, as a way of holding ourselves accountable and making sure we get on with actually writing our collections.
This morning, when Clare arrived for our writing session, I had a brainwave! Why don’t we do the Substack together! And it can be called Shaw and Moore!
This was Clare’s reaction when I shouted my idea at them…
Later, as we started to realise this would actually take a bit of work, Clare moved to feelings of despair…
But I was there, with a cheerful smile to keep them going!
Clare is now busy doing a spider diagram about all the posts we’re going to do. I asked them to hold it up and give me ‘school assembly certificate’ vibes. This is what I got.
So to my 10 subscribers who have signed up since yesterday, I am sorry that the product has slightly changed. This may happen in numerous times, and in numerous ways.
As Clare has just made themselves a cup of tea, in MY HOUSE and without offering ME one, I am off now to re-boil the kettle.
Well, this is surprising and unexpectedly AWESOME <3
This team has an amazing power of convocation. In for the long haul. xx
