Such a great idea to do this - it works because there is a true connection on both a personal and a literary level - it’s not about random collaboration for superficial effect but a deeper interweaving of forms. If there are equally genuine ways to do this for any of the other poems, please do!
Is the Dave who arranged & played this the same trumpet player you loved when you first saw him dancing to The Stones? If so, that’s the most hauntingly beautiful soundtrack to your poem about the random arc of love across the years. And it’s exquisite.
This is beautiful. The revolving trumpet sounds, the sadness of the scales, the bluesey feel, but also the energy and the motion, the opening and closing as the breath runs through the piece. Love how the solo trumpet comes in when he himself appears in the poem ; ) Playfully playing but soulful too. And kind of perfectly not a big deal... little sounding revolvings. It allows the images to lie on the surface like beautifully clearly defined lilos on a lake of sound!
